Wanless has pledged to help save the planet from plastics and turn the tide on plastics littering US\u2019s oceans and beaches. Plastic waste such as packaging, disposable plates and cups, beverage bottles and cling film can be recycled and is one of the most commonly used materials in the world.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n As the third most manufactured product in the world, over 5.8 billion tonnes of plastic waste has been produced since 1950 and according to recent studies, the society only recycles 9% of this waste stream today.<\/span><\/p>\n With this material being readily used for manufacturing eco-friendly small household appliances as well as other new products, we encourage you to contribute to the circular economy by ensuring you source segregate at all times.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0Plastics waste can be broken down into the following categories:<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n 1 Keep it loose<\/strong><\/p>\n Please place your recycling loosely in the yellow lid bin \u2013 never in plastic bags. Plastic bags jam the machinery at our sorting facility, so we can\u2019t recycle them or anything placed in them. Use a container or box to store your recyclables before putting them into your bin.<\/span><\/p>\n 2 To rinse or not to rinse<\/strong><\/p>\n No need to rinse containers before putting them in the recycling bin. They just need to be empty and dry. You might like to rinse anyway, as it keeps your recycling bin extra clean and odour-free.<\/span><\/p>\n 3 Soft vs hard plastics \u2013 do the \u2018scrunch test\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n To identify soft plastics, do the scrunch test\u2019.
